Null result: supporting people working in the homelessness sector.
Over the last couple of years, we’ve been collaborating with our colleagues at the Centre for Homelessness Impact, St Martin in the Fields Charity, and the London School of Economics on a project to replicate a well known study from the US.
In the original study, social support messages were shown to significantly reduce burnout among 911 call centre operators.
We replicated the study in the UK, working with people working in the Homelessness Sector. We found no effect of the intervention in this context, suggesting that there are struggles translating this promising intervention into a new context.
The report can be found here, along with a blog by Luke from CHI.
